What is B Corp?
Certified B Corporations are part of a growing movement of people using business as a force for good. Across a variety of industries and around the world, these companies are putting people and the planet before profits and redefining what it means to be successful in business.
B Corporations are certified by the nonprofit B Lab to meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency to solve social and environmental problems. Why B Corps Matters?
Becoming a B Corp directly aligns with our business model. Since our launch in 2016, we’ve been committed to helping set the standard for how private food companies can make a positive impact through sustainable business practices. To further demonstrate our commitment, it was our top priority to embark on the B Corp Certification process. Our focus continues to be for:
- Our Customers – we’re raising the standard for truly healthy ingredients with the best sourcing, quality control, doctor-crafted formulas and never any added junk.
- Our Employees – team members and culture are #1 for us. We’ve even won awards to show it (Inc Best Workplaces)!
- Our Communities – each year we set a goal of giving healthy food to local communities that would not otherwise be able to access them. To date, we have donated 125,000+ shots!
- Our Environment – we reduce our environmental impact in every way we can from using ugly produce (over 1.2M lbs of produce saved from landfills) to recycled packaging materials (nearly 20M bottles saved from landfills).
How do you get Certified?
To be certified as a B Corp, a company must score at least 80/200 points on B Lab’s Impact Assessment.
Over a year ago, Vive Organic embarked on a journey to become B Corp Certified. In August 2021, our team was awarded a score of 90/200. This was not an easy process and it made us look closely at our business. It highlighted some areas where we excel and other areas where there are opportunities for growth. Recertification takes place every three years, and we are committed to continuous improvement as a company. The B Corp Certification clearly provides a roadmap to improvement and we look forward to seeing our growth and impact as a business continue to grow.
